March walk in Woolhampton

Yesterday I bought myself a new ‘travel and cargo trouser pocket camera’ (a [amazon_textlink asin=’B01AAU7T3A’ text=’Panasonic Lumix TZ100′ template=’ProductLink’ store=’thearmingrewehom’ marketplace=’UK’ link_id=’e6a0b17f-0748-11e7-8240-c53967e2d49c’]), as my old one simply wasn’t good enough anymore and was starting to show signs of its age. Today was a ‘walk day’ as part of my ongoing recovery from my heart surgery, so I took the camera out for a walk to the gravel pit lakes near Woolhampton. Here are a few early spring impressions from the walk:

A few spring flowers

Following a few tests in the hospital I had to get done on Thursday today was the first day I was allowed to go out again (I got home Friday afternoon), and even that only carefully. So all I did was a short walk along the towpath of the Kennet and Avon canal. Took a few pictures of some of the flowers along the canal:

Heavy rain and sunshine at the Kennet and Avon Canal

As it was mostly cloudy today with only occasional bright moments I decided to just go on a short walk along the Kennet and Avon Canal. I still took my camera, this time with the 50mm prime lens, giving me a different challenge compared to the zooms I usually use. About a mile and a half into the walk a very heavy rain shower arrived (not forecasted when I left, but then suddenly showing on the weather app…). I decided to wait it out in the shelter of the tree, using the opportunity to try and take pictures of the rain. After about half an hour the rain stopped and for a short while there was even some bright sunshine.

After yesterday’s Great Spotted Woodpeckers at their nest something a bit different today: Instead of the telephoto lens I took the wide angle lens and went to Moor Copse for a few pictures of the early spring flowers:

Cliffs, waves and a surfer in Llangrannog, Wales

The Easter weekend 2016 I spent in Wales. On Saturday I went for a coastal walk on the Ceredigion Coastal Path from Aberystwyth to Borth. Saturday evening I drove to my friends Andy and Liz in Cribyn, after some fish and chips in New Quay we caught up on the latest news.

On Sunday Andy and I went out to take advantage of the sunny intervals after Saturdays rain. One of our stops was at Llangrannog, where we watched a surfer and enjoyed the views from the high cliffs.
